If you have the patience to teach a 17 year old how to drive and if you have a great deal of concentration, if you can interact with all kinds of people including old men and women who may be flunking their driving tests repeatedly and if are able to organize your working day well, probably you have all that it takes to be a great driving instructor! To qualify for enrolling for driving instructor training, you must be more than 21 and you must have a valid UK or EU driving license that you should have held for the last four years.
You cannot be a driving instructor, if you have been disqualified from driving within those four years and you must have a clean criminal record. The driving instructor training prepares you to finally become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). The training is in three sections that include theory, hazard perception, a test of your driving ability, eyesight test and a driving technique exam. At the final level, you will be tested for your instructional ability.
