If you want to be a driving instructor you will have to qualify as an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) after which you will have the necessary authorisation to apply for driving instructor jobs. These jobs may involve working in a driving instructor franchise or you may wish to set up your own driving school in which you can be the self-employed instructor.
Driving instructor courses will train you to be tested and registered by the Driving Standards Agency as an ADI. Driving instructor training courses are run by mostly independent or franchised companies that train one to become an ADI. This training is in three sections. The first is the theory of driving while the second section will be based on driving ability and will try and improve your driving capability. In the third section, your instructors will attempt to improve your ability as an instructor. There will be a test in two parts with a practical bias where you will be assessed on your capability as an instructor. You will finally face a driving test and an eyesight test.
