A Brief on the Career of an Electrician in the UK

You can get training to become an electrician in the UK if you have an eye for detail and like fixing gadgets. For those under 24, a college course is more suited while for a more mature student a private course is recommended. A college course may require you to have at least a grade A-C in English, Math and Science GCSE while private courses usually do not have entry requirements.

You can become an electrician by doing privately run courses that are more flexible and will give you time for your other commitments. There are all kinds of courses starting with a one day course in burglar alarm wiring to a two year part time City and Guild Electrical and Electronic Servicing NVQ.

Electrician jobs can be in a company on site or on construction jobs. You can work on your own and there are several kinds of electrician jobs such as setting up electrical installations or laying new wiring and repairing of electrical machines. You can work in the commercial, residential or in the industrial sector.
